The Graham Walkling Memorial League Season 2010

 

Following on from the success of the Graham Walkling Memorial League last summer the intention is to run the internal summer league again this year. As is always the case after an inaugural year some minor changes will be made but overall the league will be much the same as last year - (squads of 4 players, mixed triples competition; points awarded for ends won and the overall score; mixed experience in the teams etc). A few new ideas being discussed (not yet agreed) include both a minimum and maximum number of games per player and a "penalty" for killing an end. We plan to run the league a little earlier this time so that there are not so many games in a single week. The Weald League finishes on Monday 2nd August and the Friday Night Triples League on 13th August so we would expect the Summer League to start on Monday 9th August and run until the day after Finals Day. Depending on the level of interest we will run it, as last year, with two groups with a semi-final and final played on the Sunday after competitions Finals Day.   The provisional dates for matches (but this is dependent on the uptake and we would look at just two matches per week ideally) which will start initially at 6.00pm but get slightly earlier as the days draw in, would be:

At this stage and with plenty of time to go before the league starts we are just looking for you to put your name onto the list if you would like to play. We would encourage all bowlers of all experiences to take part, especially new members. The teams will be mixed both in terms of gender and also experience. Once we know the number of players keen to play then we will devise the actual programme and number of teams. So please put your name down on the table that is at the club on the main competitions board as soon as possible to allow us plenty of time for planning.
